THE FIRST WAVE OF CLUES
The Gist:
Clues are posted online. You and your team solve clues, and take photographic evidence of your solutions. Think of it as a photography scavenger hunt. You post photos on Facebook and are awarded points. The most points wins.
What’s in it for you:
• FOOD. All participants can earn themselves an invitation to the Join the Conversation Brunch on Sunday, May 15. It’s a really easy way to see some cutting-edge site specific work. And eat.
• PRIZES. The winning team will be awarded a prize package that includes tickets to shows at the A.R.T., Huntington, and I.C.A.
• SATISFACTION. Of knowing you stood up and gave your all for this great nation.
Registration:
• Teams must be limited to 8 people, and must have a team captain that will serve as the point person for the competition.
• Register your team here. Registration is open now through 9:00 a.m. Sunday, May 15.
The Clues:
• The clues will be released in three waves on the website and via email. The three waves will go out beginning Wednesday, May 11 and continue over the course of the weekend.
• You may complete the clues in any order, but point bonuses will be awarded to the teams who complete the clues first.
Posting the Photos:
To receive points for your photo, you must go through the correct posting procedure:
• Upload your photographic clue solution to Facebook.
• Tag your team member(s) in the photo (at least one member must be in every photo).
• “Share” the photo on your wall; in the “What’s on your mind?” box, tag the Emerging America Event, and mention the clue you are responding to. If you have questions about this, contact Ben Walsh at benewalsh@gmail.com.
• Check out the Emerging America Festival Event Page. Make sure you are “Attending” the event, to make tagging easier.
• The competition officially ends at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 15. All photos must be posted by then to be eligible for final scoring.
The Points:
• Point values will be assigned to the clues when they are posted based on their difficulty.
• Points will be credited to teams only once the correct posting procedure has been followed (see above).
• There will be a one point bonus for the teams who are able to solve, photograph, and post any given clue first.
• Score updates will be emailed to team captains periodically.
• After 6:00 p.m. on Sunday May 15, the hunt will officially be over and the remaining points will be tallied. The team with the most points will deemed Grand Champion of the Photo Hunt, and will receive recognition and their prize package at the Festival Closing Party.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE GREAT EMERGING AMERICA PHOTO HUNT IS NOT ADVOCATING ANY ILLEGAL OR DANGEROUS ACTIVITIES AS A MEANS TO SOLVE CLUES. INDICATION OF SUCH ACTIVITIES WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATION.
